Wings – An Exhibition of Aviation, Nature, Mystical and Landscape by Des Knock

A highly creative self taught photographer Des learnt his craft on cameras “when you had 36 exposures to get it right“.

He is experienced in the world of publishing with examples adorning front covers of magazines worldwide and exhibited in many diverse places including the outside of a New York Theatre, 35 Horror Book Covers, hundreds of magazine articles (Airfix Magazine, Tamiya Magazine, In Scale, Military In Scale, Model Mart, Fine Scale modeler, Scale Models International, Skirmish Magazine, Renaissance Magazine et al) and of late prints and cards of an aviation nature.

Des has recently re-kindled his love of Aviation as a subject since moving to the Lincolnshire area which has such a rich Aviation heritage and many opportunities to shoot thus as a subject the depictions of the aircraft you see on display have only been attempted seriously for around about a year.

A regular haunt of the Whitby Goth weekends and many other similar gatherings Des applies his trade to the mystical element providing images for Horror novels and recently also turning his attentions to the recent Steampunk revival.
You may have seen some examples of Des’s work exhibited in A4 print form at The Embassy Theatre Gallery – now is the opportunity to see more of what he has been working on and pick-up a couple of larger scale images guaranteed to add Drama and definition to your walls.

Exhibiting from Sept 11th until November 9th the “Wings” exhibition will be open daily from 9.30 – 4pm and also on every show evening in the Embassy Theatre Gallery | Skegness.

SO Inspired – June 26th – Sept 7th

A collaborative Exhibition inspired by the contrasting landscapes of our district by 7 professional artists of the Coast and Wolds Art On The Map membership.

Bob Armstrong –
Working at his studio in Fotheby near Louth Bob paints mainly mixed media and pastel landscapes of the wilder and quieter parts of Britain and Ireland from the far North of Scotland to the South Coast and most places between including, of couse, Lincolnshire. He has amassed a large number of sketchbooks over the years and these are always a starting point for a new painting.

Bridget Jones
Light and sunshine pervade Bridget’s watercolour and oil paintings of landscapes from the West Country as well as Norfolk and, of course, Lincolnshire. She always strives to convey the feel of the English countryside.
Bridget is also a renowned art teacher and runs successful workshops in the Louth area.

Barbara Melling
Barbara’s impressive range of work features batik, drawing, feltmaking, painting and textiles, often using wax resist techniques to create pictures, wall hangings and wearable and useable textiles.
She runs regular year round classes at her studio in Wainfleet St. Mary.

Steve Neal
Although Steve’s work is constantly changing it always features strong colours and textures and often stylised figures. He admits to never wanting to create the same type of work over and over and is always looking for something new, something he hasn’t tried before. He is currently working in mosaic, papier mache and even cement in addition to painting. Steve also lives in the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Sheila Pearce
At her studio in North Somecotes Sheila creates kiln-formed glass in decorative, functional and abstract forms. Her work is influenced by sources of light and colour from the natural world, often from her experiences of underwater landscapes and sea life, where she has witnessed first hand colourful and often bizarre subjects.
She is also a talented photographer and print maker.

Tina Robson
Originally from the North East, Tina has now settled amongst the undulating landscape of the Lincolnshire Wolds and draws her inspiration from the rolling agricultural vistas and vast, wild coastal expanses of her local environment.
She works in oils, acrylic and mixed media ranging from contemporary impressionism to expressionist abstraction.

Peter Wood
A multi talented artist whose interests range widely reflecting influences from his travel experiences to many parts of the world. In this exhibition we will see just Peter’s colourful paintings but his other interests include wood working and ceramics as well as photography and film making.
In addition he runs courses and workshops at his Theddlethorpe studio.

The Artists above will also be giving weekend demonstrations through the Summer.

Jason Wilsher-Mills – The Gatekeeper Within

Jason is based in the Sleaford area and in September 2012 Jason started the post of Wakefield Wildcats Community Trust Artist in Residence, which was funded by Arts Council England.  This residency ran for a year and saw him working with over 30 schools in both Wakefield & Barnsley, using iPads to design and develop a 60 metre long mural to depict the history of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Rugby League Football Club.

He will also be creating 13 new commissioned pieces for the club, along with a year’s art made about life at the club.

He was also short-listed from 950 artists into the final 40 artist of the National Culture Cloud exhibition, the finalist show being held at the Nottingham New Art Exchange Gallery.

Later this year Jason will be in Munich at the end of August, showing my work, and at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in September 2013.

Jason will be showing a variety of his work created on his iPad at the exhibition with a video showing the creative the entire process for one pieces as the iPad captures and image at regular intervals. Jason’s primary influence affecting the works he creates is an exploration of his disability.
